A novel type of current pulse compression circuit is realized utilizing transmission lines (TLs) and relatively fast switches. It yielded a time compression factor of 2 on a low load impedance. A 12 m, 50 coaxial TL provided a current pulse of 3 A and 120 ns width. Adding a 6 m, 50 storage line, able to store 50% of the initial pulse, and a fast switch, in order to close both lines on a halved load impedance with respect to the TL characteristic impedance, we generated a compressed current pulse of 6 A, 60 ns.

Abstract
A novel type of current pulse compression circuit is realized utilizing transmission lines (TLs) and relatively fast switches. It yielded a time compression factor of 2 on a low load impedance. A 12 m, 50 coaxial TL provided a current pulse of 3 A and 120 ns width. Adding a 6 m, 50 storage line, able to store 50% of the initial pulse, and a fast switch, in order to close both lines on a halved load impedance with respect to the TL characteristic impedance, we generated a compressed current pulse of 6 A, 60 ns.File in questo prodotto:
