The present work is devoted to pinpointing the main similarities and differences in terms of formal models and of the identification of the value of travel time savings in passenger and in freight transport. It first highlights the problem of data collection and the related use of revealed and stated preferences techniques. It also presents the estimates of value of travel time savings in both passsenger and freight transport, emphasizing its change over time and among geographical regions.
