The modes of failure of FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer) strengthened concrete beams is often due to the debonding of the external composite reinforcement from the substrate; as consequence, the bond between FRP and concrete represents a key parameter in the structural analysis. In practical applications it is usual to interpose a layer of mortar between the reinforcement and the substrate, as the concrete cover is often damaged. The use of fibres reinforced mortar instead of a common mortar could improve the bond between the FRP and the strengthened element, since the fibres presence could increase the fracture energy, avoiding or at least limiting the debonding phenomenon. In this work, the influence of the type of substrate preparation on the bond between external applied FRP sheets and concrete is studied. In particular, two types of mortar were considered and the results were compared with those obtained from specimens tested without the presence of the mortar layer.

Abstract
In particular, two types of mortar were considered and the results were compared with those obtained from specimens tested without the presence of the mortar layer.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
