The crystal structure of RhCl(NBD)(p-BrC6H4NO) (NBD = norbornadiene) has been detd. by an x-ray diffraction study. The nitroso ligand is σ-(N) bonded. A correlation was found between the values of Δν [ν(N-O)complex-ν(N-O)free ligand] in its IR spectrum and the bonding mode of the nitroso ligands.
