First edition of a Hebrew magical treatise preserved only in a fragmentary copy, which is part of a manuscript presently held at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, New York (Ms. R617). The short text, which was probably translated from Arabic, was copied either in Egypt or Yemen in the 17th century, and can be compared to the better known Arabic and Latin tradition of a magic astrological treatise which is generally mentioned according to its Latin title, Liber Antimaquis. The Hebrew edition is introduced by an English explanatory preface and is accompanied by an English translation.
