An extensive investigation between January 2007 and January 2008 of PM10 concentration and chemical composition has been carried out in an urban background site in Lecce (Apulia region, Italy). Particles were collected on filters (47 mm in diameter) for 24 h on 115 days randomly selected. The aim was to individuate the main sources of particles studying the PM10 chemical composition (trace metals and ionic species) and its correlation with local meteorology.
