Residual-Based Compact (RBC) schemes have been developed for the simulation of compressible flows in the finite difference framework and extended to curvilinear grids via a structured finite-volume formulation. In order to enable the handling of more complex geometrical configurations, we investigate in this paper the use of RBC schemes with an overset grid strategy on overlapping block-structured meshes. To this purpose, we de- velop a complete overset grid assembly program. To ensure communication between grids, Lagrangian interpolations of the same order of accuracy as the inner numerical scheme are used. Abstract

The proposed methodology is validated for selected test cases in compressible aerodynamics.
