This contribution aims to analizing the Eckhart’s German sermon n. 104, in order to show the influence of the averroistic noetic on the developement of his intellect's theory. The sermon n. 104, in fact, presents (or seems to present) for the first time only a theory of the ‚three intellects’, that could be attributed to Averroes, in which Meister Eckhart tries to define the role of the virtus cogitativa, that he calls lîdende vernunft, in the human knowledge. This essay presents for the first time an interpretive key to understanding a technical vernacular terminology related to noetics and employed by Meister Eckhart in his German works.
