One of the main goals of the school and research system is the education of future scientists. However, being hard to figure out what the daily life of a scientist is, it is mandatory for a high school student to evaluate a future university career, have chances to experience how a research activity is organized. The Extreme Energy Events (EEE) - La Scienza nelle scuole project plays, in this context, an essential role: involving high school students in a cosmic-ray experiment, offers them such an opportunity. The Project, coordinated by the Italian Museo Storico della Fisica e Centro Studi e Ricerche “Enrico Fermi” in Rome, is organized in different activities. Among them, annual meetings where students present their work and take part in initiatives finalized to increase their scientific knowledge. In this paper, one of such activities will be discussed, performed at the Fondazione e Centro di Cultura Scientifica “Ettore Majorana” in Erice on May 2017 and finalized to the measurement of the Earth radius with the Eratostene method.
