A species of nudibranch new to science was recorded on the artificial substratum of the Asia wreck in the Central Tyrrhenian Sea at 30 m depth. Dondice sp. nov. A is diagnosed by both morphological and molecular analysis. The anatomical study involved diagnostic features mostly used in nudibranchs, like the buccal apparatus and the reproductive system, while the molecular investigations have used the mitochondrial 16S and COI and the nuclear H3 molecular markers. Furthermore, the phylogenetic assessment of the Dondice genus and the two mostly related genera Phyllodesmium and Godiva was also performed resolving some historical controversies.

Abstract
A species of nudibranch new to science was recorded on the artificial substratum of the Asia wreck in the Central Tyrrhenian Sea at 30 m depth. Dondice sp. nov. A is diagnosed by both morphological and molecular analysis. The anatomical study involved diagnostic features mostly used in nudibranchs, like the buccal apparatus and the reproductive system, while the molecular investigations have used the mitochondrial 16S and COI and the nuclear H3 molecular markers. Furthermore, the phylogenetic assessment of the Dondice genus and the two mostly related genera Phyllodesmium and Godiva was also performed resolving some historical controversies.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
