In this work, Electrical Resistance Change (ERC) was measured during fatigue tests of notched metal specimens at different stress levels. The comparison of the resistance data measured at initial and different phases of fatigue tests showed the existence of measurable variations related to fatigue damage progression: in particular the resistance first decreases, in the initial stages of loading, and subsequently, starting approximately from 30 to 40% of fatigue life, presents a quick increase, which could be associated to the irreversible phenomena induced by fatigue load cycles. The applied experimental method proved to be valid for studying the evolution of fatigue damage.
