The contribution aims to provide an analysis of the intellectual positioning of two thinkers who, through their lucid pedagogical-theoretical reflection, illuminated the darkness of the 19th century: Anna Vertua Gentile and Simone Weil. From Galatei's proposal to the Epistles emerges the identity of being a teacher as a living metaphor of a witness education, of an uncomfortable educational philosophy.
