In the Middle Ages the taberna was not a frivolous and vulgar meeting place where one could yield to the darkest instincts of the human soul, or rather it was not only this, but it was also considered as a container of various experiences, where the divergences of the misogynistic and sexist medieval society cancelled each other out and gave way to conviviality, good food and lightheartedness. The taberna was a kind of microcosm open to diversity and contradictions, which found their common unit in the ecstatic glori?cation of the triad “woman, tavern and game”.

Abstract
In the Middle Ages the taberna was not a frivolous and vulgar meeting place where one could yield to the darkest instincts of the human soul, or rather it was not only this, but it was also considered as a container of various experiences, where the divergences of the misogynistic and sexist medieval society cancelled each other out and gave way to conviviality, good food and lightheartedness. The taberna was a kind of microcosm open to diversity and contradictions, which found their common unit in the ecstatic glori?cation of the triad “woman, tavern and game”.File in questo prodotto:
