This paper presents an inductive resonant wireless power transfer link (WPT) which has been optimized for recharging a pulse generator implanted in the chest. The proposed link consists of two capacitively loaded circular loops and appropriate matching networks. The proposed design approach exhibits improved performance with respect to possible misalignments between the transmitting and the receiving loops. From numerical data, the proposed link has an efficiency of about 67 % when the two resonators are aligned and it remains almost stable for a lateral misalignment lower than 4 mm.

Abstract

This paper presents an inductive resonant wireless power transfer link (WPT) which has been optimized for recharging a pulse generator implanted in the chest. The proposed link consists of two capacitively loaded circular loops and appropriate matching networks. The proposed design approach exhibits improved performance with respect to possible misalignments between the transmitting and the receiving loops. From numerical data, the proposed link has an efficiency of about 67 % when the two resonators are aligned and it remains almost stable for a lateral misalignment lower than 4 mm.
