This article examines an abridged version of the Vita Germani Autissiodorensis, written by Constantius of Lyon between 475 and 480 (BHL 3453). The epitome is contained in the ms. Paris, BNF lat. 12598 (ff. 105v-107r), possibly written at Corbie and dated to the end of 8th or the beginning of 9th century. The second manuscript witness is ms. Cambrai, BM 855 (12th-13th cent.), which is very likely a descriptus of the former. The article includes the critical edition of the epitome, which assembles some passages of the Vita I of Germanus of Auxerre, the analysis of the linguistic and literary characteristics, the technique and the aims of the réécriture; particularly striking is the omission of some details (e.g. the location of a miracle), and the interest in only some aspects of the life of Germanus of Auxerre.
