The perception of pheromones in humans is a fairly debated topic in the literature. There is a paucity of research in realization of methodological as well as analytical aspects of the perception of pheromones. Precisely, it involves cortical pathways that are not exclusively sensory, but more specifically subcortical, and are connected to implicit perception and aspects of recognition of the other and of their sexual or reproductive characteristics. In this respect, we tried to provide evidence for the utility of one such entropic measure, a step forward toward a more informed understanding of the role of pheromones on humans’ perceptions. This is in line with the call for future research on uncovering functional and computational processes that underlie the dependence of the behavior on the brain information processing capacity.

Abstract
The perception of pheromones in humans is a fairly debated topic in the literature. There is a paucity of research in realization of methodological as well as analytical aspects of the perception of pheromones. Precisely, it involves cortical pathways that are not exclusively sensory, but more specifically subcortical, and are connected to implicit perception and aspects of recognition of the other and of their sexual or reproductive characteristics. In this respect, we tried to provide evidence for the utility of one such entropic measure, a step forward toward a more informed understanding of the role of pheromones on humans’ perceptions. This is in line with the call for future research on uncovering functional and computational processes that underlie the dependence of the behavior on the brain information processing capacity.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
