Pace e turismo negli anni della Ricostruzione. Un'ipotesi di ricerca su Taranto

Focused on the recent studies concerning the development of peace tourism in Europe after the Second world war, the essay analyzes the case of Taranto approximately between the conclusion of the conflict and the end of the 50s. Bombed by the Allies during the war, after the conflict the city was involved in a complex process of reconstruction that identified in tourism development an important opportunity for economic and moral rebirth. In the opinion of the author of the paper, these dynamics can offer interesting ideas for a more in-depth research on the history of the city during Reconstruction, of which some aspects remain to be investigated, perhaps too quickly neglected or traced back to an exclusively “industrialist” reading of the city.
