“In questa imprevedibile tragedia ci sono solo vittime”. La violenza di genere estrema nella rappresentazione giornalistica

The essay presents a review of the major evidence that emerged from the analysis of journalistic discourse related to cases of extreme violence against women that occurred between 2015 and 2017 in Puglia. Through the qualitative analysis of the main linguistic accounts, identified in crime news articles that appeared in some newspapers, the essay reconstructs the main trends and typifications that characterize the journalistic representation of feminicides, contributing to consolidate a given interpretative frame for this type of crime. The modes of journalistic representation of feminicides and extreme gender violence are not neutral and risk, on the contrary, continuing to legitimize a condition of subalternity and domination that denotes unbalanced power relations between women and man.
