Abstract

This paper offers a synthesis of the archaeological data from southern Apulia during the Roman Imperial age (1st c. BC – 4th c. AD). In particular we suggest some reflections about the organisation of the settlement system and the distribution of the principal classes of pottery and categories of artefacts. The archaeological elements are examined in strict relationship with the historical, socio-political, administrative and economic framework.
