Abstract

The multidisciplinary approach of the contribution aims to shed light on the communal meals consumed in the mystery sanctuary of the Kabeiroi of Lemnos. Pottery and bone remains, found in the gigantic dump in Area 1 from the Late Classical/Hellenistic period, were examined. The archaeozoological study determined the fauna (terrestrial and marine) and several ceramic samples were analysed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). On the basis of this new data, the various ceramic forms found in the context were examined and their functions and ancient names were discussed.
